A renovated Victorian home, with a very contemporary extension owned by a young family. A pool shell had already been poured, when the owners realized that cohesive solution to all exterior spaces was required for a successful outcome.
The clients required extensive outdoor entertaining areas to sit with friends, and dine; a safe play area for children, and recognition that the awkward “L” shaped yard required clever design input to work effectively. Café style doors now lead to a tiled patio, with a diagonal 'blade' of large dimension decking timbers , leading from a similarly hued interior polished floor, to an in-built exterior seating area. This patio is built on stumps and bearers to allow maximum airflow to the home's underfloor.
Facing north, the clients wish for summer shade and winter sun was met with ornamental grape being fixed to stainless steel wires on a fully galvanized steel pergola. Privacy screens of a similar material line perimeter fence lines, and are covered with scented climber. Walls to the pool area are rendered lightweight sheet on steel frames, and meet legal requirements for pool fencing.
